Full-Day Ice Climb and Glacier Hike in Skaftafell, Höfn, and More

On this full-day adventure, two of our experienced hard-ice glacier guides will lead you through challenging glacier terrain. Negotiating these landscapes is not possible with any other kind of glacier tour in Iceland.

Expect to explore the depths of crevasses (cracks in the glacier) and walk amongst ice towers known as ‘seracs’, all with the added safety and flow of having two expert guides. From the outset, we will teach you how to use glacier travel equipment before progressing quickly through to the most unreal ice formations hidden in crevasse fields and ice-falls.

Here, you’ll be ice-climbing short pitches of crevasse walls and maybe even in meltwater holes.

Having two guides minimises the amount of time you would otherwise have to wait for one guide working flat out to rig ropes and anchors. This translates into a more action-packed trip than any other in Iceland.

But this Vatnajökull National Park hiking and ice climbing tour isn’t all action. There are moments to have a break, enjoy taking photos, and marvel at the surrounding icescapes. And don’t forget having a nice hot drink on the glacier! Your guides will share fascinating information about the nature surrounding you and the overall landscape formation, making your day more meaningful and immersive. As with all our Vatnajökull National Park hiking and ice climbing experiences, we love seeing people develop a newfound love of glaciers.

Each of our trips is a unique exploration. This is because we change and adapt routes in line with glacier melt and evolution. We cover various potential locations between Skaftafell and Höfn.
